MAST’s weekly security report issue 300 is available to read now.

Following the arrests of several oil thieves, which we reported last week, the Nigerian government has set up a committee to tackle pipeline vandalism and oil theft. This past week has also seen Nigeria partner with Denmark to fight piracy in the Gulf of Guinea.

A ruling is expected next month on the Kenya-Somalia maritime border dispute, which will have implications for oil and gas projects in the region.

In South East Asia, a Royal Navy warship has transited the Taiwan Strait for the first time in 13 years, as part of a freedom of navigation exercise.

To date, this year has seen the number of migrants crossing the English Channel more than double compared to 2020, highlighting the severity of the current crisis.
