Security and Risk Report 17/04/24

MAST’s security report issue 393 is available to read now.

In the UK, counter terror police have written to Premier League football clubs to recommend a review of safety procedures in the wake of potential terror threats. Anti-social behaviour crackdowns have continued in a number of UK cities and locations, including Thurrock in Essex, which has seen a significant reduction in reported offences.

An armed robber in Nottingham has been jailed for seven years following robberies at petrol stations. Police in Bedfordshire arrested three people after a spate of armed robberies in the county, they said.

In London, former cricketer, Kevin Pietersen, has hit out at safety in the city, stating that he had removed his watch and wedding ring as a security precaution. Squatters have occupied a pub owned by Gordon Ramsay, the BBC reported. The venue is estimated to be worth around £13 million.
