In the UK, politicians have criticised proposed Martyn’s Law, describing it as ineffective. A nightclub is due to have its licence reviewed, after 60 people were reportedly involved in a fight. SIA-licenced door staff had not been employed. 

Shoplifting in the UK Co-op stores has increased by more than a third in the last year, the company reports, with 1,000 incidents of theft or anti-social behaviour taking place each day. Fire Safety Matters reports that false alarms could be costing the UK economy as much as £700 million per year.

In London, luxury watch robberies remain a problem, with Aled Jones the latest victim. Former boxer, Amir Khan has told the media he now employs private security when visiting the city.
