Director of Strategy

Ed Davis CB CBE brings a wealth of national and international security experience to MAST, most recently having served as Governor and Commander-in-Chief of Gibraltar, a position he held from 2016 until stepping down in 2020. In this role, he had responsibility for the Foreign Affairs, Defence and Internal Security of the Jurisdiction. 

Prior to his appointment as Governor, he had a distinguished career in the military with a long track record of delivering success in some of the most demanding Public Sector security roles. This has given him extensive experience in developing, leading, implementing and managing strategic and operational security solutions to protect people, property, material assets, transportation and information; this has included the optimisation and transformation of risk-management systems and processes.   

During his military career, he served in the Royal Marines, retiring in the rank of Lieutenant General from the Naval Service in 2016. His last military appointment was as Deputy Commander of NATO Land Forces in Izmir, Turkey.  His previous appointments have included Commandant General of the Royal Marines (including Commander of UK Amphibious Forces) and Commander 3 Commando Brigade Royal Marines (including the UK’s Operational Commander in Afghanistan).
